7. should i use an old power head to increase oxygen levels
8. can female bettas go in with dwarf gouramis
9. are aqua one aquariums good
10. are kyathit danios uncommon

you should have a 200 to 300 wat heater
2 metal heaters are just as good as glass heaters
3. it is good to have 2 heaters in a tank for 2 reasions one neither has to work as hard and if one heater fails the second one will prevent loseing fish due to water temp drop

4 is an oppion based question I feed frozen blood worms, brine shrimp, mayisi shrimp, and tubiflex worms of thease the brine shrimp have the leaste nutration and are more of a filler the most nutrious are the blood and tubiflex worms

5 there is a type of fish that looks a lot like a pelco that needs wood in there diet but for a pelco wood is not nessary

6 there is no single good food it is better to feed a verity of fish foods example is flakes, freeze dried shrimp, freeze dried blood worms
useing a verity of foods will better meet the fishes nutrienal needs since no one food does

7.useing tan old power head to increase water flow can be a good or bad idea it really depends on the type of fish and how many fish in your tank slome fish do not like a lot of flow

8 yes the female even the male betta can go with the dwarf grouramis though each fish is different and you should watch them to insure they don’t pick on each other to much

9 aqua one tanks are about as good as any other I prefer all glass my self but I am more concerned with size over brand

10 I have never heard of a danio by that name but that doesn’t mean they are uncommon

is this another one of your fish quizes where you don’t know the anwsers and pick one of the worest anwsers or do you really need this information

When Can I test my aquarium for ammonia?

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I tested my aquarium this morning for ammonia and it was ridiculously off the charts. So I went and bought an ammonia remover. It doesn’t say how long it will take to affect the water. It’s been 2 hours so far, when can I test the water again to see if it helped?

You should have done a water change, then added water water conditioner. Thats what I do to lower my ammonia.

Do Guppies Eat The Fry?????

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

if by fry you mean baby guppies, then yes they do. You need to keep the babies in a separate tank until they are bigger. you can buy small plastic tanks that float in the aquarium, and have slits in the slide to let water through so they have fresh water.
and be careful with guppies, they breed faster then rabbits.

——

yes they will eat the young, try placing a pregnant guppy in a breeding trap so that when she gives birth the babys will be safe or fill the tank up with weed .if you plants lots of weed the babys only need a few days and then they are fine

My male Canary has stopped singing since the female Zebra Finch in a cage across the room died. wat do i do??

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

My yellow Canary has stopped singing since the female Zebra Finch i had in a seperate cage across the room died. He used to sing everyday and now he is silent… he still eats adn drinks and he’s healthy. So i don’t know how to get him to sing again.

you have to buy another female animals are just like us they get depressed too. Once you but a male bird and a female bird together and one dies you have to buy another to replace that female bird. I know it happen to me before with my birds I had some time back once we bought the new bird to replace the one that passed away the other bird was okay

——-

He’s mourning the loss of his little friend! You’ll have to do something to help him get over the loss.

The best thing would be to (this is going to sound cruel) replace her. Zebra Finches are very inexpensive. Alternatively, you could buy him a mirror. Beware of this, though, if you plan on him ever paying attention to you as a living thing again. Birds see the reflection of themselves as another bird. They’ll often treat it as a mate and will even try to feed it. If this simply won’t do, then just be sure to bring him wherever you go for the next couple of weeks, slowly cutting back the time to where it was before his friend died.

Most places I have lived have noise ordinances that prohibit annoyances from 9pm until 7am. Call the local police to help with your problem. However, if it was my problem I’d talk to my neighbor about it first.

Lysteria on Goats?!?

Friday, June 6th, 2008

I went to a got farm today thinking i would buy a goat but the man said a few goats he had had lysteria. I was wondering if nyone knew what this was and how i could prevent it if it comes in contact with my herd.

Goat breeders usually call this “listeriosis”. It is usually caused by feeding bad feed, parasite overload, or other poor management by the breeder. It is treated with the antibiotic Penicillin and can be fatal if not treated quickly enough.

The symptoms are almost identical to “goat polio” which is a Thiamine deficiency. It is treated with large doses of Thiamin (Vitamin B) every 6 hours.

For more information on both of these goat problems see this page:

Do u find cats scary?

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

1. No I don’t and you wouldn’t either if you gave them a chance.
2. OMG yes! and cat ppl get insulted when i get scared of their cats

as to why? i dunno something in the eyes, the way they strut…the whole superstition thing about them…..both my siblings claim they saw a black cat in their room when they awoke in the mid of the night and everything in the house was locked…both were on different occasions
3. I definitely find cats creepy. I couldn’t tell you exactly why, but I think it is because they remind me of evil magic( you know black cats and witches).
4. I love cats! Had cats all my life! Never had a dog. Cats are so cool!
5. I find them intriguing! You never know what is going on in that head. And their eyes are just stunning! It is kinda creepy when they jump up and do the crazy cat run without any provocation, but hell, it’s really entertaining after the initial startle.
6. No I like cats but some can look scary if they have no ears or something or those hairless cats, those are creepy.
7. shave it.
8. No not at all….but I know someone who is…..lol

Why is my 8 year old cat?

Thursday, October 25th, 2007
  1. He is marking his territory. Or take him to the vet just to make sure. But I’m pretty sure he is just marking his territory
  2. Well it COULD be just an aging cat thing, however urinary problems are common with male cats. He could have a bladder infection, or worse- kidney or bladder stones. I lost a male cat to bladder stones. Peeing around the house was the first sign of any problem, and by then it was too late. Some other health problems like diabetes and tumors can cause this too. If I were you, I’d take him to the vet right away and make sure he’s alright.
  3. some one has come inside your house with another cat scent on their shoes, cats have a good nose, so your cat smells it and trys to out spray it with it’s pee!!Try cleaning some areas with citiral oil.
  4. I won’t waste time with a lengthy answer, but.. this site here:
    http://www.hdw-inc.com/litterbox.htm
Has plenty of information on your problem, just scroll down a little to “URINE MARKING AND SPRAYING” and read up on that.
  5. Inappropriate elimination is often a symptom of urinary tract infection. The cat begins to associate the pain he experiences while peeing with the litter box, so goes elsewhere. He might also be trying to get your attention.

So your first step is to have the cat evaluated by a veterinarian. If you notice he is straining a lot but not producing much (may seem constipated), then it is urgent enough to find an emergency vet after hours. Male cats sometimes get blocked up, and then it is only a matter of hours before it is too late. If he is not completely blocked up, then it can wait until morning - but make sure to get him in to see the vet tomorrow.

Here is a link to a good article on how to solve litter box problems, in case it’s not a medical issue http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/our_pe…

  6. He is marking his territory.
  7. is he spraying or urinating?

the first thing that comes to my mind, especially with an older cat is kidney issues or diabetes. it could also be a urinary tract infection. if this is a new thing for him to do, a trip to the vets is a good idea. if its not a medical issue they can advise you on what to do for behavior problems.

how are is appetite and water intake?
